FAQs

Will your services really work and produce the results I want?

Yes. If you engage in my process and commit to doing the work.

Will you guarantee that I will achieve a specific result?

Because I don’t select the positions you apply to nor am I on the interview with you, I can’t guarantee that you’ll get an interview or job out of the work that we do. However, as a result of working with me, you will have the confidence and tools to do the work and research for the positions you are interviewing for.

What type of results can I expect?

Upon completion of our work together, you will have high-quality branded documents, such as a resume, LinkedIn content, cover letter, and responses to interview questions. Also, you will have a focused target in the market, so you will be successful in achieving more positive responses in the market. You’ll have new confidence going after what you want.

Can I contact some of your former clients to see what it’s like working with you?

Most of the work I perform is confidential, however, I have a couple of clients who may be available to contact.

Can I sample your product or service?

During your complimentary consultation, I will review your resume and LinkedIn account, and offer feedback. Generally, this helps people decide if they’d like to work with me.

Also, during our consultation, we may decide you don’t need further consulting. I may just send you a certain document or form for your review, and that’s all.

What types of payment do you accept?

Personal check, credit cards, Venmo, or PayPal.

What happens if I need to quit the program or cancel the service?

I ask for full payment upfront. However, we all have life circumstances that happen. I would want to discuss with you why you’re canceling. If it’s a service or satisfaction issue, I’m going to work to make sure that you’re 100% satisfied. If it’s a timing issue for you, I can defer the work. Ultimately I want you to be satisfied with the work we’ve done together.

What if you have never worked with someone in my industry?

This has happened. I was contacted by a world-renowned ear, nose and throat doctor who was looking at going into biomedical venture capital. I told him that I’d never worked with anybody with his background. However, I explained to him what I know, how I work, and how I can help. I want people to understand that the process and techniques we use are not that different industry to industry or background to background. For the most part, I can help anybody, regardless of what industry they’re in.

Once we’ve established a consulting fee, will there be additional costs for things?

If you ask for additional services outside of our contract, there may be additional costs. Other than that, no.

Will I need to buy supplies such as resume paper, envelopes, and portfolio covers?

You may have to buy a better-quality paper to print your resume or bio if you will be handing or sending it out. If you don’t have a high-quality printer, you may want to go to FedEx Kinko’s or a similar shop. This is at your discretion; I don’t require that. Also some tools I suggest, like Jobscan or SkillSyncer, or LinkedIn, you don’t need to buy them, but you can if you want. As we go through the process, there may be additional supplies and things that you would like to buy, but there’s nothing that I suggest you purchase to be successful.

What happens if I don’t listen to you, take your advice, or do it your way?

This is your job search process, your resume, and your LinkedIn profile. You can do whatever you want. I’m giving you the best information to be successful in the market; if you choose not to do it, it doesn’t mean you won’t be as successful. I can only tell you that typically you might not move as quickly through the process of looking for a job, you might not be as clear in the process, or you may not be received as well in the process.

Who do you work best with?

People who are willing and who will engage; people that take the process of career transition seriously because it takes effort and time.

What is required of me if I decide to work with you?

During our discovery phase, I may ask you to do some exercises to clarify your focus and help define your brand. I may have you do an assessment, and I’ll ask that you do those in a timely manner. I ask that you respond to emails for Zoom calls and show up willing and open to conversation.

Please be truthful and authentic with who you are and what you want to do. This way we can represent you in the best way in the market. Everything you tell me is confidential. If you tell me you were arrested for embezzlement, we can deal with that. It’s between you and me, but I need to know everything so I can do the best job possible.

I had a client that, after she had signed off on everything, said something relevant that never come up in the eight weeks we worked together. Now we have to redo some things.

How long will this take?

Depending on what you need, typically 21 to 30 business days. This allows for some back and forth in editing, etc. If you’ve purchased career road mapping, you buy several sessions, which is a certain number of hours to go through this process. Because you may have scheduling challenges, it might take us six weeks to get through it.

Do I retain the rights to everything developed while working together?

Yes.

Is my work with you confidential?

Absolutely. I don’t distribute my clients’ documents with their information as samples. I don’t publish them in any way or use them for marketing. You will receive a survey after completing our work and in that, I do ask if they would be willing to provide a testimonial about our services and the client is invited to write whatever they would like.
